Pewsey

I spent the weekend in Pewsey for the annual Pewsey carnival. As you can see the weather was spectacular, we had a thunderstorm over night and it was just beautifully fresh, perfect for a long walk...

Barns Wetlands

I took my eldest son (Luc) to Barns Wetlands yesterday so that he could get a little practice with his new Camera (Canon A620) and binoculars that he got for his 8th birthday last Wednesday. It was my first time there but enjoyed it so much I got a season ticket on the way out. It's basically an old water-works turned into a nature reserve. They've done a spectacular job and it makes a perfect place for a weekend walk once you get away from the main entrance. It seemed a little dull taking photos of the somewhat captive birds but the dragonflies were a real challenge. I tried using Canon's AI-Servo focus which was great when the were flying but once they stopped it re-focused continuously while I re-framed the shot. By the time I turned off the AI-servo focusing the dragonfly had moved on and was flying again.

I was pleased with this shot but there were a lot of others that looked so much better on the camera but just weren't clear once I got them onto the computer.
